The swimming meet was organized by “Energy Standard” Club with the support of the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) and under the aegis of the Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN).
The tournament was an official qualifying event for the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
A total of 210 athletes competed in the event from the teams of the United Kingdom, France, Italy and “Energy Standard” Club. For the first time the Open category was introduced into the event program. Some of the world swimming stars swam for “Energy Standard”: the eleven-time world champion and record holder, the “Iron Lady” Katinka Hosszú from Hungary, a medalist at European championships Louis Croenen from Belgium, a medalist at the World Championship 2015 in Kazan Sharon van Rouvendal from the Netherlands, top athletes of Ukraine: Daryna Zevina, Andrii Govorov, Mykhailo Romanchuk, and of Russia: Yevgeny Rylov, Anton Chupkov, Rosaliya Nasretdinova, Yevgeny Koptelov.
The team Italy included European medalists Gabriele Detti and Simone Sabbioni, while France was represented by Ophélie-Cyrielle Étienne, the 2012 Olympic bronze winner, and podium-place winners at European championships Anthony Pannier, Justine Bruno.
Among the event’s featured guests of honor were Dmytro Kachurovskyi, President of Ukrainian Swimming Federation, Roberto del Bianco, a Board Member of the Italian Swimming Federation, Mayor of Lignano Sabbiadoro Luca Fanotto, the founder and Head Coach of “ADN SwimProject” Andrea Di Nino.
The event had a total prize money fund of 150 000 EUR.
